Fab Finds: ACT's 7th Annual Puppy Palooza
I had the privilege of attending Animal Compassion Team's awesome "Puppy Palooza" fundraising event last year with some friends and had the BEST time! A year later, I was so excited when my friend Liz finally gave me the official deets for this year's fabulous event! I immediately marked it down in my calendar and got my silent auction bidding pen ready! (I mean business when it comes to silent auctions...no. joke.)
Over the weekend, I attended the 7th Annual Puppy Palooza and this year, the weather was ABSOLUTELY perfect!! It was sunny and slightly cool (until the chilly evening wind kicked in, but whatever, I'll take it!) and everyone was so cheery and happy! Just a perfect night, out on a beautiful property on the lake. Gorgeous.
Now, fortunately AND unfortunately, our table was placed right next to the Nothing Bundt Cakes table. Throughout the evening, they were giving out little desserts in all their signature flavors! UNLIMITED!! They were SO nice and never told us "that's enough!" Let me tell you, between the eight of us at our table, we ate quite a mouthful! I never knew what the big deal was about these cakes...until I tried them. THEY ARE RIDICULOUS. So incredibly moist and topped with cream cheese frosting, sooooo what else do I need to say?! They come in a variety of flavors: Red Velvet, Chocolate Chocolate Chip, Lemon, Marble, Pecan Praline, Carrot, White White Chocolate, White Chocolate Raspberry and Cinnamon Swirl. <---my FAVORITE I seriously think we tried just about all the flavors!
Now, some of you may or may not know, but I LOVE a good silent auction...a LEGIT silent auction. THIS particular silent auction always brings the goods! Last year I "won" Disneyland tickets!! So this year I was set out to get something super cool as well! I ended up bidding on a total of five items, and after strategizing and playing the game, as I do so well, I narrowed it down to the two I really wanted. Take a look at what I came home with!
Dutch Brothers Coffee Basket:
I was very excited to win this item because any chance I get to have Dutch Bros. Coffee, I take it! I also loved that the basket came with whole coffee beans because I grind my beans fresh every morning for my French press coffee, so that was an added plus! However, the BEST part about this basket is the gift card! I think I'm going to head over to their newly opened location and spend spend spend!
Polk Smart Sound bar and Subwoofer System:
I had been on the hunt for a sound bar and subwoofer for awhile prior to this event, and when I saw not only one, but TWO sets on the auction table, I immediately starting bidding on each of them and committed to winning one! Funny story about this particular item; I actually got into a bidding war with someone at the very last minute of the silent auction. That's never happened to me before! I was determined to win this item, and I wasn't letting anything stop me! So, as the MC was counting down the last few seconds, I wrote my final bid down, waited for my name to be circled and won! Not gonna lie, I was guilt tripped a few times during this bidding war by my opponent, but stood firm and took home the gold! ...or the black. I was actually very proud of myself for sticking to my guns and following through! After all is said and done, it's for charity, but I wanted THIS money to be MY donation!
ACT is such an amazing organization and I'm so happy and lucky I found my little babies through them, so I love going to events like this and showing my support. If you're thinking about adopting, go down there, play with the pups, fall in love, and take a puppy home. It's easy, it's worth it!
