Fab Finds: Artist Spotlight - Sara Bareilles
This girl gets me.
When Sara Bareilles dropped her 2nd album, "Little Voice" back in 2007, I was instantly drawn to it. There were songs on there that really caught my attention and made me wonder "who is this girl?" You may know her for her bit hit "Love Song" which sky-rocketed up the charts and eventually landed number four on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Not too shabby if I might say so myself! To many people, this may seem like the only hit or single of that particular album, but for me, many songs followed suit and kept me wanting more and more from this piano-playing beauty.
In 2010, she released another album called "Kaleidoscope Heart" and this is my one true love. This is the album I go back to over and over and over; timeless in my eyes. There is something about this album that speaks to my heart whether it be happiness or sadness. Whenever I'm in the mood for a nice karaoke sesh in the car, this is the chosen one. I just love belting out these tunes because they are absolute perfection.
One of my favorite sets of lyrics from this album have to be from the song "Basket Case" which is such a hard song to listen to when you're hurt or sad, but so real and raw!
So cleverly written and unbelievably true.
Fun Fact: During this time, Sara was featured as a celebrity judge in the third season of the show The Sing-Off! (...which I most definitely watched!)
Three years later, she released yet another FANTASTIC album, "The Blessed Unrest" which featured her hit song "Brave." This song in particular has touched the hearts of so many people around the world. The lyrics are so touching and give so much hope and inspiration!
Following the release of this hit record, she went on tour and decided to record yet ANOTHER album, but this time a live album at the Variety Playhouse in Atlanta, Georgia. Every time I listen to this album (which is quite often), it REALLY makes me want to go see her live. She just sounds SO unbelievable on this record, so pure, yet full of personality! I can tell she puts on one heck of a show!
A few of my favorites from this album have to be the "Love on the Rocks/Bennie and the Jets" mashup, which is genius and so so good! The next one is of course, "(Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay" with her mysteriously inviting voice singing your worries away! Next up, I gotta say is the live version of "Let The Rain" which is so fun and interactive! You can really hear her personality shine through with this one! Lastly, she KILLS it with "Come Round Soon," absolutely unreal. You can hear the passion she unveils so freely in her voice...major goosies over here!
This girl never stops working, because last year, she released yet another album "What's Inside: Songs from Waitress." I'm still working my way through this album, but love every bit so far!
As you can see, her catalog is endless, but most importantly, her authenticity and quality has been top notch over the years. I truly appreciate and respect her as an artist and think she's such an inspiration and role model to not only me, but so many people out there!
